Better Metal is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-performance Cast Superalloys, offering both high-purity master alloy ingots for remelting and complex near-net-shape precision investment castings. Because cast superalloys eliminate the deformation constraints of wrought alloys, they allow for higher concentrations of refractory and strengthening elements (such as W, Mo, Ta, Nb, Al, and Ti), delivering superior creep rupture strength above 900°C to 1150°C. From equiaxed turbine guide vanes and integral turbocharger rotors to directionally solidified (DS) and single crystal (SX) components, we provide certified metallurgical consistency, advanced ceramic-core hollow blade manufacturing, and comprehensive Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) processing.
Cast superalloys are delivered as smooth, precise near-net-shape castings or clean-surfaced vacuum remelt master ingots. Utilizing advanced ceramic shell investment casting and vacuum induction melting, the castings exhibit exceptional dimensional accuracy, fine surface finish (Ra 1.6–3.2 µm), and defect-free internal structures. Every critical casting is inspected for shrinkage, micro-porosity, inclusion segregation, and hot cracking to satisfy aerospace-grade non-destructive testing (NDT) criteria.
Master Alloy Melting (VIM): High-purity virgin raw materials are refined via Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) to ensure ultra-low gas content (O, N, H < 10 ppm) and control trace tramp elements.
Precision Investment Casting (Lost-Wax Process): Robotic wax assembly, multi-layer ceramic slurry dipping, high-temperature dewaxing, and pre-heating of ceramic shell molds.
Vacuum Precision Pouring: Including conventional equiaxed grain casting, high-gradient Directional Solidification (DS), and Single Crystal (SX) grain-selector casting.
Post-Processing & HIP: Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) at high pressure and temperature to completely eliminate internal micro-porosity, followed by vacuum solution treatment and multi-stage aging.
Equiaxed Cast Superalloys:
IN713C, IN738LC, IN792, Mar-M247, K418 (K18), K418B, K403, K465, K424.
Directionally Solidified (DS) Alloys:
DZ4, DZ125, CM247LC DS.
Single Crystal (SX) Superalloys:
CMSX-4, René N5, DD6, DD5.
Cast Superalloy Master Ingots
Supplied in standardized diameters (70 mm – 150 mm) for investment casting foundries.
Higher Temperature Limits: Operates continuously at temperatures ranging from 900°C up to 1150°C+, well exceeding the thermal limits of most wrought alloys.
Exceptional Creep & Stress-Rupture Strength: Strengthened by high volume fractions (up to 60%–70%) of coherent gamma prime [γ'-Ni3(Al, Ti, Ta)] precipitates and boundary carbides.
Complex Geometry & Thin-Wall Capability: Capable of forming intricate cooling channels, serpentine air passages, and trailing-edge cooling slots down to 0.5 mm wall thickness via soluble ceramic cores.
Superior Thermal Fatigue & Hot Corrosion Resistance: High Cr and protective elements resist sulfidation and cyclic thermal fatigue in high-velocity combustion gases.
Aviation & Marine Gas Turbines: High-pressure turbine rotor blades, stator nozzle guide vanes, integral turbine blisks (integrally bladed disks), and heat shields.
Automotive & Heavy Turbochargers: Turbocharger turbine wheels (radial/axial flow), wastegate valves, and variable turbine geometry (VTG) nozzle rings.
Industrial Gas Turbines (IGT): Heavy-duty first-stage and second-stage stationary guide vanes and rotating buckets for power generation.
Missile & Rocket Propulsion: Liquid rocket engine turbo-pump rotors, combustion chamber injectors, and supersonic hot-gas valves.
